Entspannung äußert sich im subjektiven Gefühl von körperlichem und psychischem Wohlbefinden und Ruhe. Darüber hinaus können unterschiedliche physiologische Wirkungen auftreten, die zu typischen Körperempfindungen (= Körpersensationen) führen und messbar sind, wie z. B. Schwere- und Wärmeempfindungen in den Armen und Beinen, Kribbeln und Kitzeln in Fingern und Füßen oder auch „hörbare“ Magen-Darm-Aktivitäten.
