Abstract
Soft tissue lesions of the hand may also involve adjacent bone. As extraskeletal chondroma typically affects only the soft tissue, involvement of the adjacent bone is very rare and confusing. Gout is caused by uric acid crystal deposition and, although usually idiopathic, may be associated with many disorders. In chronic tophaceous gout, the tophaceous deposits may produce bony erosions. Scleroderma is characterized by excessive deposits of collagen in the skin and other organs. In addition to soft tissue atrophy, terminal phalangeal resorption may also occur.
