Abstract

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) plays an increasingly important role in modern transportation systems. It is typically abundant in all kinds of information sources such as different types of sensors, monitoring video cameras, station information terminals, etc. This chapter introduces an undergoing effort, the goal of which is to build an integrated intelligent transportation information and service system, to facilitate the integration of traffic data resources and inter-operation of existing ITS systems and services. We systematically utilize the Grids, Semantic Web and Web Service technology to implement a distributed infrastructure in support of information resource management and coordinated resource sharing.
