Abstract
Breast implant malposition may occur more frequently than is documented in the literature. The key to avoiding the need for secondary surgery is prevention by means of a thorough preoperative assessment of the patient’s anatomic features and an operative plan that specifically addresses these issues. Care must be taken during the intraoperative dissection to accurately create the position of the implant pocket. When implant malposition occurs following augmentation, adequate treatment includes addressing the specific etiology. Consideration should be given to performing a capsulorrhaphy to readjust the implant pocket along with replacing the implant if necessary.
