Wir leben in einer Informationsgesellschaft. Aller Erfahrung nach bedeutet gut informiert zu sein auch die Reduktion von Angst. Paradoxerweise aber werden wir heutzutage von informationeller Angst geplagt. Sie hat nach Richard Wurman (mindestens) zwei Quellen: zum einen unser Verhältnis zu Informationen, zum zweiten unsere sozialen Beziehungen. „Information anxiety is produced by the ever-widening gap between what we understand and what we think we should understand. Information anxiety is the black hole between data and knowledge. It happens when information doesn’t tell us what we want to know.“2
