Abstract

Quantum transport in dual one-dimensional electron systems (1DES) is reviewed for different types of dual electron waveguides prepared from GaAs/Al-GaAs-heterostructures by nanolithography. Tunneling and mode coupling phenomena can be observed measuring the conductance in applied electric and magnetic fields. This work classifies (a) laterally tunnel-coupled 1DES, (b) vertically-stacked tunnel-coupled 1DES and (c) spatially-coincident 1DES and reports on the control of quantum wire superposition states, which is envisioned for electronic waveguide devices.
