Abstract

It is a great pleasure to contribute this article to the special issue in honor of Giorgio Picci on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Throughout his career, stochastic methods in modeling and filtering have been central to Giorgio’s research. This article intends to describe a new idea in digital filter design, but from a deterministic point of view. I hope that it can provide a contrasting viewpoint on noise and signals in some specific contexts.
