Dies zeigt auch die gegenwärtige Unfallstatistik (Stand 2006), nach der von insgesamt elf schweren Unfällen strahlgetriebener Flugzeuge sechs der Kategorie approach and landing (ALA), also Unfälle der Anflug- und Landephase, zuzuordnen sind.
