Abstract

Computed tomography (CT) has provided new in-sights into the alterations that occur in the lungs in patients with cardiac disease. In this chapter the emphasis is on the imaging features associated with left sided-cardiac dysfunction, particularly the spectrum of thin-section CT thoracic abnormalities. Some controversial entities such as “cardiac asthma” and the chronicity of the pulmonary changes are discussed. The new perspective of integrating pulmonary and cardiac information provided by multidetector-row CT (MDCT) is also considered.
