Abstract

Generally anisochronicity means that the phase velocity on a limit cycle depends on the instantaneous values of the amplitude. In other words, a phase trajectory slows down in some parts of the limit cycle and accelerates in others. It is clear that the response of such an oscillator to perturbations should depend on the current position of the phase point on the limit cycle. In this chapter we discuss non-linear effects that appear due to anisochronicity of individual oscillatory units and introduce some useful methods for their analysis.
