Adaptronics: A Concept for the Development of Adaptive and Multifunctional Structures

  • Dieter Neumann

Abstract

The introductory chapter 1 explains the term adaptronics and outlines the historical development of the field. Its purpose and objectives are described by means of simple examples from technical and non-technical areas. The importance of multi-functional materials for adaptronic systems receives special emphasis.
