Kognitive Dysfunktionen und Defizite in der Aufmerksamkeit sind im Rahmen der Krankheitsbilder aus dem schizophrenen Formenkreis gut bekannt und erforscht. Es stellt sich jedoch die Frage, ob Störungen in der Informationsverarbeitung zeitlich nicht schon wesentlich früher auftreten, also noch bevor die Aufmerksamkeit auf einen Reiz gerichtet und er kognitiv verarbeitet wird: in der Wahrnehmung.
