Abstract

Following the increase in the investigation of the male partner for human papillomavirus (HPV), along with novel detection methods and organ-confined nomenclature, a multitude of diagnoses of penile intraepithelial neoplasias (PINs) are now being presented to medical practitioners involved in the treatment of HPV-related diseases. PIN is the term presently used to describe a precancerous lesion of the penis. HPV infection is associated with PIN development, and PIN progression to penile invasive disease is an uncommon but possible event. This chapter reviews current concepts of PINs, including distinctive clinical findings, grading and terminology, diagnosis, and therapeutic options.
