Masers at Millimeter and Submillimeter Wavelengths

  • Conference paper
Science with Large Millimetre Arrays

Part of the book series: ESO Astrophysics Symposia ((ESO))

Abstract

Observations of interstellar and circumstellar maser emission at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths can be used to probe the physical conditions and the chemistry in the emitting regions. Furthermore, because of their high brightnesses, many maser lines can be utilized as phase reference sources by future (sub)millimeter-wavelength interferometric arrays.
