Abstract

In the preceding section we investigated near-the-surface instability and hence examined the simplest semi-infinite bodies. In this and the next sections we dwell on the simplest problems of TLTDBS for finite bodies. We begin with the problem on stability of a strip under axial compression, which is considered almost in all publications on TLTDBS as a standard example. We investigate it as a plane strain problem in the plane x 10x 2 for compressible and incompressible bodies in the form, common for various types of solids. In so doing, we shall use general solutions, constructed for compressible and incompressible bodies in Subsect.14.2 and Subsect.14.5, respectively.
