Abstract

Solar-system objects show a wide range of physical dimensions (from a few kilometers to more than 100000 km) and a wide range of heliocentric distances (from 0.3 AU to more than 50 AU). VLTI observations of Solar-system objects will concentrate on targets with angular dimensions in the range of an arcsec or smaller. Major objectives are expected to be the search for asteroid companions, the morphological study of asteroids, satellites of outer planets and the Pluto-Charon system, and the study of distant objects. A low-resolution spectroscopic facility will be needed to provide information on the mineralogy of asteroids and satellites.
