Abstract
We examine the acceleration of winds from late-type stars, using simple, one-dimensional, stationary flow models to investigate different mechanisms for driving atmospheric expansion. We focus on the winds from low-mass, main sequence stars like the Sun, first determining the basic physical properties of thermally driven mass loss, and subsequently considering some of the ways in which rotation and magnetism can influence flow dynamics.
