Data Warehouse and Web-based application development are an increasing part of modern software development, but are different from conventional software development in that they typically involve considerations of software reuse and redevelopment.
These topics give rise to questions of how to measure the software size on data warehouse developments and how to estimate effort when reuse and redevelopment is involved. That is why this chapter deals with the special aspects of sizing Data Warehouses and Web-based application development, as well as work effort estimating with special consideration to software reuse and redevelopment.
