Abstract
In this chapter we discuss, as a last example of the algebraic renormalization technique, the quantization of the bosonic string theory considered as a gauge theory for the gauge group (Dif f × Weyl), Dif f and Weyl denoting respectively the diffeomorphism and the Weyl scale transformations.
