Abstract

The study of chemical element abundances in dwarf star-forming galaxies is a powerful tool for constraining the age of these low-metallicity galaxies. We find that the C/O and N/O abundance ratios in the most metal-deficient galaxies, with oxygen abundance less than Z /20, favor a very small age, not exceeding 100 Myr.
