Abstract
Photothermal displacement spectroscopy (PTDS) is a well established method for the analysis of solids [1], surfaces [2] and thin films [1,3]. The basic heat transfer mechanisms relevant for this technique are generally understood and theoretical models have been developed [4]. For special cases, like Gaussian beam excitation [1,5] and layered structures [6], solutions for heat conduction and thermoelastic response have been presented that may directly be compared to experimental results.
