Abstract

In the paper a basic description of the settlement behaviour of a track due to the passing of trains is presented. Based on that fundamental consideration model scale tests were performed. As a result of these model scale tests a mathematical framework to predict the mean settlements and the differential settlements are presented. The transfer of the results of the model scale tests to a prototype is presented. In a numeric study the suitability of elasto-plastic material laws to simulate the settlement behaviour of a foundation under cyclic load is investigated. Furthermore a study is made to find out, if it is possible to simulate the moving of non-uniform settlements under a moving load in a numeric simulation.
