Abstract

The idea of an agent that writes your computer code for you at first seems like nonsense, but you can now buy off-the-shelf software to write code. Clearly the critical information must be provided in some way other than typing in the code by hand. The question is whether changing to a new way of providing information is valuable enough to warrant the difficulty of the transition. For critical applications, such as space flight and medicine, the answer to this question turns on whether the new agents can reduce risk while efficiently producing quality code.
