Penetration of Spherical Bodies into a Fluid Half-Space

Abstract

In this chapter, we study the problem of impact of a deformable spherical body against a fluid half-space and the problem of penetration of such a body into the half-space. The fluid is assumed to be ideal. The problems of such a kind are of practical importance. The results of their studies can be applied in different areas of modern engineering. The state of the art is sufficiently well analyzed in the reviews Gorshkov (1976), Gorshkov (1981), and Vestyak et al. (1983) and in the books Kubenko (1981) and Sagomonyan (1986).
