The Role of Zero Probabilities in Dealing with Zero Frequency Problems

Abstract

In many fields (for example in medical diagnosis) the problem of evaluating the probability of a possible event, not yet occurred in the available data, needs to be faced. In this paper we show how to deal with such a problem inside the theory of coherent conditional probabilities.
