Abstract

The intermediate region between the infrared and radio waves, comprising the frequency range from about 0.1 THz to 10 THz, (for wavelength: 3 mm-30 µm, and for wavenumber: 3.3 cm−1–333.3 cm−1) is known as the terahertz (THz) region. This frequency range covers the spectrum from millimeter waves to far-infrared waves. The first studies of photonic crystals (PCs) started in the microwave range because of the easy preparation of samples [1]. Developments in the THz region are not just a step in the progression from longer wavelengths to shorter ones; rather, considering the development of practical application techniques, great opportunities lie in the THz region, including millimeter waves.
