Abstract

Two types of Raman scattering are possible in a superconductor-excitation of optical phonons and excitations of quasi-partieles across the superconducting energy gap. Phonon Raman scattering, which can also be observed in normal metals, is of interest because of the information it gives about the electron-phonon interaction, including possible effects of that interaction to produce “anomalous dispersion” of optical phonons near zero wave vector [1].
