Abstract
Scientists tend to concentrate on the work at hand, often ignoring the relations between our own research and that of others. Thus the aim of this chapter is to step back and give the reader a broader picture of what goes on under the banners of nonlinear science and related activities. We will see how the ideas of the previous chapters are interrelated, survey some general approaches to nonlinear science, and look at relations among these different approaches.
