Abstract
This paper explores the fundamental issue of how Knowledge Management (KM) initiatives impact on business performance. Reflecting on the management literature enabled the definition of a conceptual background which has been tested and developed by an action research project. Drawing on the results of this project the paper proposes a framework to support managers in defining, planning, implementing and evaluating KM initiatives for performance improvement.
