Zusammenfassung
Das Basalzellkarzinom ist der häufigste epitheliale Tumor der Haut mit einer ungewöhnlich großen klinischen und histologischen Formenvielfalt und Variationsbreite. Etwa 80% der Tumoren sind in der Kopf-Hals-Region lokalisiert, wobei eine Häufung in der zentrofazialen Region bemerkenswert ist. Metastatische Absiedlungen des Tumors sind eine Seltenheit, doch kann das lokal aggressiv-destruierende Wachstum zu großflächigen Mutilationen führen. ähnliche Gewebezerstörungen können bei unzureichender Therapie durch die hohe Rezidivneigung mit subklinischer Tumorausbreitung auftreten. Mit der zunehmenden Inzidenz der Basalzellkarzinome (jährlich etwa 100 Neuerkrankungen pro 100.000 Einwohner) kommt diesem Tumor eine besondere Stellung speziell in Hinblick auf effektive Behandlungsmaßnahmen zu. Um ungünstige Verläufe zu verhindern, ist eine möglichst frühzeitige adäquate Ersttherapie zu fordern, deren Ziel die kurative Tumorbeseitigung ist.
