Abstract

Grid computing has recently become very popular and this development deserves to be called a hype. To benefit from the techniques of Grid computing, it is not necessary to invest a lot in software for smaller solutions. Simple Grids sized at entry-level can be implemented using some ideas of service-oriented architectures. Especially when building such a new system, it is interesting to know, how the result will most likely perform and how big the benefits will be.

This paper gives an approach to implement such an entry-level Grid solution for computational tasks and introduces a computational model to estimate the performance of these solutions.
