Too much technology, not enough business: The first experimental forays into e-business may be reduced to this simple epigram. These days, in light of numerous disappointments, more and more companies are becoming aware of the fact that in the first instance, the emphasis of IT usage in general and e-business in particular must be concerned more with the “business”, and less with the “E”. Once this notion becomes clear, the revolution that is represented by reengineering and the transformation of business processes is unmistakable. All the same, specifically in collaborative commerce, strategic and technical questions cannot be dealt with in isolation from one another.
