Homi K. Bhabha ist einer der wichtigsten postkolonialen Literatur- und Kulturtheoretiker unserer Zeit. Neben Edward W. Said und Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak gehört Bhabha zur „Holy Trinity of colonial-discourse analysis“ (Young 1995, S. 163), die maßgeblich postkoloniales Denken in den Literatur- und Kulturtheorien geprägt hat. Auf innovative, originelle und hochtheoretisierte Weise beschäftigt sich Bhabha mit postkolonialen Fragestellungen, und seine Analysen zeugen von einem neuartigen Denken kolonialer Machtstrukturen und kultureller Repräsentationsformen.
