Zusammenfassung

Für die Staaten Mittelost- und Osteuropas verbinden sich die Folgen des 11. Septembers mit einer in-between-Situation. Die MOE-Staaten entschieden sich im Falle des Irak-Konfliktes für eine atlantizistische Haltung – eine Haltung, die jedoch tiefere Ursachen als nur die Terroranschläge selbst hatte. Die Studie kommt zu dem Schluss, dass der Atlantizismus der MOE-Staaten heute, zehn Jahre nach 9/11, keinen Automatismus mehr darstellt und sich nunmehr stärker über strategische Prämissen bestimmt. Die Politik der USA nach 9/11, im Besonderen jedoch nach der Invasion im Irak, hat nicht nur Befürworter unter den mittelosteuropäischen Staaten gefunden und wird zusehends kritischer betrachtet.
