Zusammenfassung

Identität soll hier verstanden werden als die einzigartige Persönlichkeitsstruktur, die sich einerseits im Selbstbild, andererseits im Fremdbild der sozialen Umwelt widerspiegelt. Sie sucht und gibt Antwort auf die Frage Wer bin ich ? Zentral für das Erleben von Identität sind von Kontinuität und Gleichheit. Trotz aller Veränderungen und Erfahrungen erlebt man sich über die Zeit hinweg als die gleiche Person, deren Kern unverändert bleibt. Nur bei pathologischen Veränderungen wird diese Identitätserfahrung aufgelöst (multiple Persönlichkeit, Alzheimererkrankung).
