Zusammenfassung

Viele AutorInnen stimmen mit Reinhold Bergler in der Auffassung überein, dass Tiere eine besondere Rolle im Leben vieler Kinder und Jugendlicher einnehmen. In verschiedenen Studien, in denen Heranwachsende zur Bedeutung ihrer Haustiere befragt wurden, ordnen sie ihren Haustieren häufig ganz selbstverständlich einen wichtigen Platz in ihrem Leben zu (vgl. u. a. Bergler 1994). Hunde, Katzen oder Meerschweinchen werden als Spielgefährten und beste Freunde geschätzt, mit denen Kinder gern Zeit verbringen, denen sie vertrauen und von denen sie sich verstanden fühlen.
