Ziel dieses Buches war es zum einen, die betriebswirtschaftliche Servicefunktion Controlling zu erklären. Es sollte auch deutlich werden, wie das Controlling im Gesamtkontext eines Betriebes positioniert ist und wie der prozessorientierte Ablauf des Controllings funktioniert. Um sicherzustellen, dass dieses Ziel erreicht wurde sind hier abschließend vier zentrale Leitfragen formuliert, die noch einmal wesentliche Inhalte auf den Punkt bringen sollen.
