Zusammenfassung

2003 heißt es in einer Informationsbroschüre des Bundesfamilienministeriums: „Gender bezeichnet die gesellschaftlich, sozial und kulturell geprägten Geschlechtsrollen von Männern und Frauen. Diese sind – anders als das biologische Geschlecht – erlernt und damit auch veränderbar.“ Bei oberflächlicher Hinsicht erscheint die Aussage plausibel. Anders sieht das aus, wenn man die Botschaft reflektiert, die mit der Zweiteilung insinuiert wird. Sie bezieht sich auf die im angelsächsischen Sprachbereich geprägte Unterscheidung von Gender, als dem gesellschaftlich bedingten Geschlecht und Sex als dem anatomischen Geschlecht und soll programmatisch zum Ausdruck bringen, geschlechtstypisches Verhalten sei ausschließlich gesellschaftlich bedingt, während alles, das mit der Biologie zu tun hat – und etwa gar mit Veranlagung – für die Prägung von Geschlechtsrollen ohne Einfluss sei.
