Delinquentes Verhalten von Jugendlichen erfährt in den Massenmedien eine hohe Auftnerksamkeit. In der öffentlichen Debatte wird abweichendes Verhalten Jugendlicher unter anderem mit Problemen der Integration von Zuwanderern in Verbindung gebracht. Mangelnde Sprachkenntnisse auch in der dritten Generation, geringe Chancen auf Erwerb weiterfuhrender Schulabschlüsse sowie eine Orientierung an gewaltfördernden kulturellen Mustern, die zugleich mit einer Distanz gegenüber staatlichen Institutionen in Verbindung stehen, werden als Ursachen für eine erhöhte Gewaltbereitschaft angesehen.
