Zusammenfassung
Die Finanzkrise Europas stellt nicht nur für die Politik, sondern auch für die theoretisch orientierte Politikwissenschaft eine wichtige Herausforderung dar. Sie weist nachdrücklich darauf hin, dass sich Politik in Europa heute immer weniger mit den klassischen Integrationstheorien des Intergouvernementalismus und des Neofunktionalismus begreifen lüsst und anstelle dessen nach theoretischen Ansützen verlangt, die der Demokratie und der üffentlichkeit als nicht nur normativer, sondern auch analytischer Kategorien eine zentrale Rolle zuweisen.
