Zusammenfassung
Vom 14. bis 26. August fanden in Singapur die ersten Olympischen Jugendspiele (OJS) statt – wie es der Präsident des Internationalen Olympischen Komitees am 5. Juli 2007 in Guatemala-Stadt anlässlich der IOC-Vollversammlung verkündet hatte. Es handelte sich um das Lieblingsprojekt Jacques Rogges, der die Nachfolge von Juan Antonio Samaranch u. a. mit dem Vorsatz angetreten hatte, die olympische Bewegung nach der Phase der Kommerzialisierung der Olympischen Spiele moralisch zu erneuern.
