Zusammenfassung
Das vorliegende Bändchen enthält eine Sammlung von fünf Vorträgen, die der rührige Herausgeber der „Revue de synthèse historique“ und der „Bibliothèque de synthèse historique“, Henri Berr, im Rahmen der zweiten „Semaine internationale de synthèse“ veranstaltet hat. Das Thema dieser Vorträge, an denen sich ein Biologe, ein Zoologe, zwei Archäologen und ein sozio-ethnologisch interessierter Historiker beteiligt haben, sind die Ursprünge der Gesellschaft.
