Die Essays tragen den Untertitel From Ancient Creed to Technological Man, auf Deutsch etwa: ›Vom antiken Glaubensbekenntnis zum technologischen Menschen‹. Mit diesem weit gespannten Bogen sind zugleich Jonas’ philosophische Interessengebiete benannt.
