Zusammenfassung

Gerade weil es in der arabischen Welt nicht einfach ‚den‘ Islam gibt, ist eine problembewusste Auseinandersetzung mit Religion in Kultur und Kunst wichtig. Das Kapitel führt u. a. mit Asad, Mahmood und Makdisi in für das Verständnis von Religion und Religiosität zentrale Debatten ein und stellt anschließend relevante arabistische Anwendungsfelder vor, die von sufistischen bis hin zu säkularen Kunstformen und Kulturpraktiken reichen.
