Zussamenfassung
Mit ›Rock‹ steht neben ›Pop‹ im musikalischen Bereich ein Begriff zur Verfügung, unter den viele weitere Stile subsumiert werden (Punk, Heavy Metal, Gothic etc.), der jedoch ebenfalls als spezifische Stilkategorie fungiert. Im Gegensatz zu ›Pop‹ (s. Kap. 6) wird mit ›Rock‹ als Oberbegriff bislang aber nicht auch das ganze Feld bezeichnet, dafür dient (in erster Linie in den USA) ›Rock ’n’ Roll‹.
