Zusammenfassung

Wenn überhaupt, dann wird John Harwood Hick (1922–2002) in Deutschland primär im Hinblick auf seine religionstheologischen Thesen wahrgenommen (z. B. Gerth 1997; Josowitz-Schwellenbach 2000; Heller 2001; anders jedoch Koziel 2001). Seine zahlreichen und einflussreichen Arbeiten zu nahezu allen Bereichen der Religionsphilosophie sind hierzulande weitgehend unbekannt geblieben, ebenso wie seine internationale Reputation als einer der bedeutendsten Religionsphilosophen des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts (s. Hewitt 1991; Cheetham 2003; Sugirtharajah 2012; bibliographische Übersichten in D’Costa 1987; Sharma 1993).
