Abstract
In his Lectures at the Collège de France in 1976, Michel Foucault declared that sooner or later, every revolution would face the problem of how to “establish the best possible fit between unfettered barbarism on the one hand, and the equilibrium of the constitution” that has to be rediscovered “on the other”. The present chapter aims to highlight Friedrich Schiller’s post-revolutionary effort to come to terms with this problem in his drama Wilhelm Tell.
