Durch die allgemeine Hochschätzung der Dialogform und die besondere Bedeutung, die man dem Dialogischen für die platonische Philosophie zuschreibt (bei Hirzel ist Platon sogar ein »Fanatiker des Dialogs«: 1895, 215 und 259), kann man den Blick dafür verlieren, dass es in beträchtlichem Umfang und in überraschender Vielfalt auch in den Dialogen monologische Reden gibt.
