Zussamenfassung
Der Ausdruck »Zwei-Welten-Theorie« (two worlds theory) wird in der Platon-Literatur in verschiedenen Bedeutungen verwendet. Mindestens drei wichtige Verwendungen lassen sich unterscheiden: Erstens wird mit ihm Platon die ontologische These zugeschrieben, dass die Ideen einer anderen Welt angehören als die Sinnendinge (These A); in diesem Sinne bezeichnen bereits die antiken Platoniker (z. B. Philon, De somniis 1,188,1 f.; Plutarch, Mor. 373B1; Alkinoos, Didaskalikos 156,11 f.; Plotin, Enn. V 9 [5] 13,13 f.; Syrian, In Metaph. 116,30 f.) die Welt der Ideen als »intelligible Welt« (kosmos noêtos), die Welt der Sinnendinge als »sinnlich wahrnehmbare Welt« (kosmos aisthêtos).
