Mit »Seelenwanderung« [= SW] (grch.: metempsychôsis) wird eine meist in religiösen Vorstellungen wurzelnde Auffassung bezeichnet, der zufolge die Seele den Körper nach dem Tod verlässt, um zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt zu reinkarnieren, d. h. in einen neuen Organismus einzugehen (bzw. in ihm »wiedergeboren « zu werden: Palingenesie).
